Well, this is after the fact, but for August, our outing was to the Zoo.  We went as a family (well, minus my stepmother and my daughter who had had a seizure and needed rest) and had a great day yesterday.   It was unfortunate that S. couldn’t go but well, the seizures take a lot out of her and she really would not have enjoyed it.  The four of us that went were hot and happy by the time we got home.

We got to see the layout for the newest expansion to the zoo, which opens next spring and will be incredible, as well as the wonderful animals already on display.  Our son was much impressed with the “petting zoo” which is no longer much of a “petting” zoo since all you can pet is the goats.  He loved looking at the chickens and rabbits and the cows and pigs…over and over and over :-D

Next month: The Children’s Museum

Well, we liked the apartment we looked at, put in an application and paid the lovely fees, and we got the one we requested – found out officially today!

It will be ready in the middle of Oct.  which will give us time to move out of our current townhouse and get it cleaned thoroughly for the owners.

So – one goal down…now, just the horrible process of packing, moving, and unpacking…ugh.

Well, ok, technically I restarted it since I started one earlier this year, but I did such a poor job keeping it going last time that I don’t really count it.

So, my six months for this goal starts August 20, 2010.  I earnestly hope that this helps me refocus on my spiritual life; I have gotten away from the way I was raised.   I trust that the foundation my mother gave me is still there, just dusty!  My intention is to track my growth and my spiritual journey.

Finding a new home…

August 18, 2010

Goal # 5 is to find a new home.  Our lease is up in a couple of months – the owners of the townhouse are being transferred back here so they want their house back…lol, big surprise.  Its unfortunate because this has been a nice place to live, but we’re also ready to move to a one-story house or apartment, figuring that it will be easier to keep our daughter safe (she’s quite a climber).  So…the search starts.

There is a nice apartment complex that one of my husband’s cousins lives in and we love the layout and the spaciousness of it so we’re putting in an application today.  Here’s hoping it works out – I hate house-hunting almost as much as job-hunting.

Other things we need to do:

  • Look at houses for rent.
  • Start gathering boxes.
  • Clean out kids’ clothes and toys.
  • Donate unwanted/unneeded/outgrown things.
  • Pack things we don’t or WON’T need.

I finally had a few moments to reconsider my priorities and my goals for the time period.  This is a good start for me and gives me a good base to work from – lol, maybe I’ll even get motivated to actually start on more of my goals.

I have continued to work on some of the goals that made the jump from my old list, like teaching my son to read.  He’s coming along nicely, which is good since he heads to kindergarten in the fall.  I’m also still working on praying twice a day and meditating twice a day, though I think I might actually mark that last one as done.  I do that most of the time now, even if briefly.  That’s made a big difference in my stress level, overall, I think.

All in all, I think I’m doing well in terms of getting my thoughts together and putting together a good list.  Some of these goals may not technically meet the “terms” of this project, but I think they do from my own perspective and in terms of the issues I’m facing right now – and hey, its MY list…lol, I’m going to do this MY way.
